📦 Step 1: Unbox & Authenticate
Before proceeding, ensure your Trezor device is genuine and secure. Your safety is paramount.
⚠️
**CRITICAL WARNING:** Always download software ONLY from the official website. Never enter your Recovery Seed into a computer or phone. Your Trezor screen is the only place you should ever view or confirm your Seed.
- **Check the Packaging:** Verify the box has no signs of tampering, scratches, or previous opening. Look for the genuine holographic seal.
- **Inspect the Device:** The device itself should not show any signs of prior use. It should be pristine and factory new.
💻 Step 2: Get Trezor Suite
Trezor Suite is the recommended application for managing your device, cryptocurrencies, and security settings.
✅
**BEST PRACTICE:** We strongly recommend downloading and installing the **Desktop Application** for maximum security and ease of use.
Choose your platform and download the official Suite:

- **Connect Device:** Plug your Trezor into a USB port.
- **Install Firmware:** If prompted, install the latest official firmware.
- **Create Wallet:** Choose to "Create New Wallet."
- **Backup (Crucial Step):** Write down your 12/18/24-word **Recovery Seed** on the provided cards. **DO NOT take photos or store it digitally.**
- **Confirm Backup:** Trezor Suite will guide you through confirming a portion of your Seed to ensure you wrote it down correctly.
- **Set PIN:** Choose a strong PIN using the random number pad that appears on your computer screen in conjunction with the device screen.
Once complete, your Trezor is initialized and ready to use!
